HSE’s Sarah Ballard wins diving regional, six county divers qualify for state

Hamilton Southeastern’s Sarah Ballard led the way at the HSE diving regional on Tuesday night, winning the event and leading a complete Royal team to the state meet.
Ballard, a junior, scored 444.85 points to win the regional championship, holding off Homestead senior Jackie Brenn, who totaled 440.15 points. Both divers advance to Saturday’s state diving preliminaries, which take place at the IU Natatorium.
The top eight divers at the regional head to state, and three of them were from Southeastern. After Ballard, senior Halli Siwik placed third with 409.95 points, and senior Ashley Sinicropi finished sixth with 381.60 points.
Three other Hamilton County divers also qualified for state. Fishers’ Morgan Casey placed fourth by scoring 405.40 points. Carmel freshman Darci Commons took fifth with 402.95 points, and Guerin Catholic sophomore Emma Abdalla placed eighth with 357.35 points.
Bishop Dwenger sophomore Anna Yaggy finished seventh by scoring 380.90 points.
