Hamilton Southeastern kept its unbeaten season rolling on Friday, cruising to a 35-0 win over visiting Homestead in a Class 6A Sectional 3 semi-final game.
The No. 1-ranked Royals steadily built their lead over the Spartans, going up 14-0 after one quarter. Donovan Hamilton broke the ice by catching a 34-yard touchdown pass from Ty Bradle.
Jalen Alexander took over after that, scoring Southeastern’s next three touchdowns. He took off on a 44-yard scoring run with 1:28 left in the first period, then made a 19-yard sprint to the end zone midway through the second quarter. That gave the Royals a 21-0 halftime lead.
Alexander punched the ball in from the one-yard line early in the third quarter. Bradle completed the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown throw to John McCoy midway through the third. Carter Gutt made all five extra-point kicks.
Southeastern’s defense played outstanding, holding Homestead to minus 46 yards rushing for the game. Shane Gastineau recovered two Spartans fumbles, with Donovan Rhodes recovering one. Evan Sherrill had one sack.
The Royals are 10-0 and play at Fishers next Friday for the Sectional 3 championship.
