The Hamilton Southeastern volleyball team got a big win on Tuesday, edging out Yorktown in five sets at the Tigers’ gym.
The Royals won 25-19, 25-17, 14-25, 23-25, 15-10. With the victory, Southeastern is 10-1 for the season.
“That’s a great team that we played tonight,” said Royals coach Jason Young. “What we told them beforehand is play with confidence. Take swings. You got to win with swings. Set one and two, and then in five, we swung our way out of trouble.
“Sets three and four we got ourselves in trouble by trying to tip the ball a little bit, get a little cute. We made too many errors in set three and let them back in; we made six in a row at one point, so we’ve got to be a little bit cleaner on that. We’re still a young team, and we’re still learning and figuring things out. It’s still early in the season, but it’s nice to get a test. It’s nice to get a five-set test.”
Southeastern travels to Fishers on Thursday for the Mudsock match.
