Carmel started strong against county rival Noblesville on Tuesday, and that helped the Greyhounds to beat the Millers 57-50 at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
Carmel led 13-3 after the first quarter, with Bridget Dunn and Kate Clarke both scoring five points. Noblesville cut the Greyhounds’ lead to 28-23 by halftime; Ashlynn Shade helped out by scoring seven points, while Mallory Miller making all four of her free throw attempts.
Freshman Hannah Lach had eight points for Carmel in the second quarter, including two 3-pointers. Lach made three more 3s in the second half, helping the ‘Hounds to stay ahead. Lach wound up with six for the game, leading all scorers with 22 points.
Clarke had three triples, on her way to 16 points and also handed out four assists. Dunn added 15 points, and reached double-double status with 12 rebounds.
Miller led Noblesville with 21 points, going 9-of-10 from the line. Shade scored 17 points, collected six rebounds and made four steals. Abby Haley dished out four assists.
The Greyhounds are 3-2 and play at Hamilton Southeastern on Friday afternoon. Noblesville is 3-4 and plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game Saturday afternoon at Avon.
