The Carmel girls basketball picked up a win Saturday, taking care of Richmond 79-55 in a home game.
Carmel started fast, taking a 21-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. Six different players scored, led by Lauren Perry’s five points. The ‘Hounds held a 36-16 halftime advantage, then came out of a high-scoring third quarter with a 63-41 lead. Izzy Shepherd poured in 13 points during that period.
Carmel outscored the Red Devils 16-14 in the fourth to finish the game. Shepherd totaled 21 points, with Bourquein scoring in each quarter and contributing 17 points. Perry added 12 points and Ramsey scored 10.
The Greyhounds are 3-4. This week, Carmel hosts Westfield on Tuesday and then plays an afternoon game at Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday.
