Carmel took a trip to the Dayton, Ohio area on Friday to play Centerville, and came home with a 44-23 victory.

The Greyhounds rolled through the first quarter, scoring 20 unanswered points. Andrew Pemberton made two long touchdown runs from 40 and 41 yards during the period, with Anthony Coellner tossing a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Bellin in between.

The Elks scored 10 points in the second period, but Carmel avoided a second-quarter shutout when Lukas Krishtanmoorthy made a field goal at the end of the period. That gave the Hounds a 23-10 lead at the halftime break.

Coellner threw for his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter, finding Nathan Williams for a 21-yard score. In the fourth quarter, Dominic Shockley punched the ball in for a one-yard TD, then Aiden Dickerson got a pick six, taking an interception return 59 yards to the end zone.

Pemberton reached 100 yards rushing on 11 carries. Coellner went 19-of-29 for 185 yards, with Williams collecting nine receptions for 104 yards.

Carmel is 2-1 and hosts Louisville Trinity next Friday.
