Carmel ran away with its first win of the season Saturday, taking control in the second half to beat Fort Wayne Carroll on the road, 52-30.
The Greyhounds led 9-7 after the first quarter, but the Chargers made a second-period comeback to lead 22-16 at halftime. After that, it was all Carmel. The Greyhounds’ defense took over, allowing Carroll only eight points in the entire second half. Carmel, meanwhile, poured in 36 points during that half.
Mackenzie Thomas led the way for the ‘Hounds, scoring 17 points. Emily Roper added 10 points, while Taryn Fisher scored nine points. Roper collected nine rebounds and blocked two shots, while Thomas pulled eight rebounds. Hannah Lach had a solid all around game with seven assists, six points and four steals.
Carmel is now 1-1 and plays its first home game on Tuesday, when the ‘Hounds welcome Zionsville to the Eric Clark Activity Center.
