Carmel finished up its regular season with a 27-7 victory over Lawrence Central Friday at the Greyhounds’ stadium.
Carmel scored a touchdown in each of the four quarters. Alijah Alfayyad got on the board with a seven-yard run midway through the opening period, then Aydrian Caldwell took an 11-yard pass from Jack Kazmericzak into the end zone. Ben Sponsler made both extra-point kicks, and the ‘Hounds led 14-0 at halftime.
The defense stepped up for Carmel in the third quarter, as Kyle Fedorcha took a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown. Sponsler’s kick made it 21-0. Kazmierczak finished the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth.
Kazmierczak had a very efficient night, completing 17 of 23 attempts for 153 yards. Reece Bellin made six catches. Alfayyad led the rushing with 58 yards.
The Greyhounds are 6-3 and host Westfield on Oct. 28 in the first round of Class 6A Sectional 4.
