Carmel dropped its Metropolitan Conference finale on Friday, falling to Warren Central 41-38 in an away game.
The Warriors led 8-4 after the first quarter, but the Class 4A No. 2 Greyhounds blasted through the second period, outscoring Warren 16-6 to take a 20-14 halftime lead. The Warriors came back in the third quarter and tied the game at 26-26 by the end of the period. Warren then outscored Carmel 15-12 in the fourth.
Peter Suder scored 14 points and collected seven rebounds. Sam Orme also had seven rebounds, followed by Spencer White with six and Garwey Dual with five. Dual also made two blocked shots.
Despite the loss, the Greyhounds are the MIC champions, as they finished league play with a 6-1 record. Ben Davis and Lawrence North tied for second with 5-2 records. Carmel is 16-5 overall and plays its regular-season finale Wednesday when it hosts La Lumiere Blue for a 6 p.m. varsity-only game.
