Carmel ran its win streak to five on Friday by taking care of Warren Central 38-14 in an away Metropolitan Conference game.
Neither team scored in the first quarter, and the Warriors got on the board first with a 38-yard rushing touchdown in the second period. The Class 6A No. 6 Greyhounds responded later in the quarter when Zach Osborne connected with Zach White for a 10-yard pass play touchdown. Then with less than a minute to go in the half, Osborne threw another 10-yard touchdown, this one to Baron Smith.
Carmel now held a 14-7 lead, and expanded it in the third quarter. Spencer Hanna kicked a 41-yard field goal, then Osborne tossed his third touchdown pass of the game, this one 25-yards to Colton Parker. White scored late in the period on a seven-yard run.
Ethan Hall added the Greyhounds’ final touchdown in the fourth period on a five-yard run. Hanna made all five extra-point kicks after each score.
Osborne finished the game 9-of-16, totaling 141 yards. Smith and Daniel Mullins both had two catches; followed by five different Carmel receivers with one catch each. White led the Greyhounds’ rushing game with 72 yards.
Carmel is now 5-1 in MIC play, keeping it in second place in the league. Center Grove completed an undefeated MIC season on Friday, coming from behind to beat Lawrence North 28-13. The ‘Hounds are 6-2 overall and host Lawrence Central next Friday.
