‘Hounds beat Fort Wayne South for fifth straight win

Carmel cruised to its fifth consecutive win on Saturday, beating Fort Wayne South Side 77-44 at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Greyhounds blasted through the first quarter to a 25-8 lead. The Archers made a comeback in the second period, cutting Carmel’s lead to 33-24 by halftime, but the ‘Hounds poured in 28 points in the third quarter, giving them a 61-33 lead and putting the game out of reach.
Kate Clarke led the way for Carmel, scoring 19 points. Mackenzie Thomas had 16 points and nine rebounds, while Hannah Lach added 15 points. Laura Valiente had nine rebounds and eight assists, while Emily Roper had seven rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Sophie Shepherd pulled five rebounds.
The Greyhounds improved to 10-6 and play Thursday at Columbus North.
