Carmel got an important victory on Saturday, beating defending Class 4A State champion Homestead 66-55 at the Spartans’ gym.
The 4A No. 2 Greyhounds took control of the game in the second quarter, leading 4A No. 5 Homestead 31-23 at halftime. Carmel then scored 25 points in the fourth period to seal the victory.
Amy Dilk scored 24 points for the ‘Hounds, and also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Tomi Taiwo drained three 3-pointers on her way to 21 points, and handed out three assists as well. Reagan Hune added 11 points and led Carmel’s rebounding with five. Blake Smith dished out three assists.
The Greyhounds are 2-0 and host Heritage Christian on Thursday for their home opener.
