A solid start for Carmel led the Greyhounds to a win over a highly-ranked team on Tuesday.
Carmel beat Brebeuf Jesuit 61-51 in a road game. The Braves are ranked No. 2 in the Class 3A Associated Press poll, while the ‘Hounds are receiving votes in the 4A poll. Carmel led early, jumping out to a 19-11 lead after one quarter. The next three quarters were played evenly, but the Greyhounds maintained a comfortable lead, going up 32-25 at halftime.
Alex Couto had another outstanding performance from the field, draining six 3-pointers on his way to 23 points. Couto also dished out five assists. Evan Harrell scored 10 points. Mitchell Mulloy collected nine rebounds, with Harrell pulling seven and Ryan Clevenger getting five. Carmel outrebounded Brebeuf 33-20.
The Greyhounds are 10-10 and play Friday at Warren Central.
