Heroic Noblesville teacher receives State’s highest honor

On Saturday night, Jason Seaman (right) was recognized as a Hoosier hero by the Indiana Society of Chicago. As our readers know, Seaman is the teacher who saved lives by putting himself in danger during the Noblesville West Middle School shooting on May 25.

Also at Saturday night’s event, Seaman was presented with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Eric Holcomb (left) and State Senator Victoria Spartz (center).

The Sagamore of the Wabash is the highest distinction in Indiana given by the governor. According to in.gov, it is a personal tribute usually given to those who have rendered distinguished service in the state. Other Sagamores have been astronauts, presidents, politicians, ambassadors, artists, musicians and citizens who have contributed greatly to our Hoosier heritage.

Forever grateful for Mr. Seaman! If it wasn’t for him that morning my son including many others could have been taken from this earth way too soon. #WAT
