Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) invites the community to discover the power of a library card. Sign up for or renew your library card at the Fishers or Noblesville branch of HEPL anytime in September to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month.
HEPL’s guiding principles are Innovation, Discovery, Equity, and Access, which are at the core of what they do. As their tagline says, “IDEAs Live Here.” But, so do Creativity, Play, Stories, Community, and so much more. Some of the best community resources live at the library, all available to you for free with a library card.
If you’ve ever been to the Fishers branch, you may have wandered down to Ignite Studio, the art studio and makerspace at HEPL. This space will help you unleash your creativity. Some of the most loved resources here include maker kits for adults and kids, an A.V. studio, a 3D printer, a vinyl cutter, an embroidery machine, and so much more.
Create some special family memories by checking out HEPL’s brand new outdoor yard games. There’s Ladder Toss, KanJam, Bocce Ball and more that you can take home or to the park to play with your family and friends. There are also yard games for public access stationed at the south entrance to the Fishers branch, and there’s always space to play inside in the Youth Services area of either library branch.
Stories of all kinds can be found in HEPL’s collection on the library shelves and in online databases, like Libby and Hoopla. HEPL also wants to hear your story. Visit the newly opened Crossroads Discovery Center at the Noblesville branch where storytelling and genealogy are brought together. Here you can contribute to the community oral history booth and use interactive exhibits to explore historic records.
As you can see, there’s so much more you can do with your library card than just check out books. A HEPL card gives you access to a myriad of resources just waiting to be explored.
To celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month, HEPL has partnered with several local businesses to give cardholders special access to deals. Show your HEPL card at participating local businesses between Sept. 1 and 30, 2024, to get a special deal. View the full list of participating businesses on the library’s website here.
Help HEPL break its own personal record for the most library cards created in any past September. HEPL will hold two library card sign-up parties in the library plaza with music from Mr. Dan, live caricature artists, Kona Ice, and more.
The first event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Noblesville Library. The second event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Fishers Library. Everyone is welcome. Whether you’re just getting signed up for your first library card or already have one, make sure to swing by to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month at HEPL.
