Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt was elected as the 2025 President of the Indiana County Commissioners (ICC) East Central District during the annual conference.

“Mark will be a great spokesperson for his county and his district, and he is dedicated to building stronger Indiana counties,” ICC Executive Director Tyler Warman said.

As District President, Heirbrandt will represent the elected County Commissioners in the East Central district of the state, which includes the following counties: Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Tipton, Union, and Wayne. The ICC is represented by six districts in the state. He will serve on the ICC’s Board of Directors, which determines policies and legislative goals for the Association.

Heirbrandt also served as the ICC President from 2023 to 2024 and received the prestigious Distinguished County Commissioner of the Year Award in 2022 by the Indiana County Commissioners and was recognized as County Commissioner of the Year by the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) in 2023.

Hancock County Commissioner Bill Spalding was elected District Vice President during the meeting as well. The district meeting also included discussion on current issues pertaining to county government in the East Central District.

The elections were held during the ICC’s 2024 Annual Conference this month.
