The community is invited to attend a special Lantern Walk through the historic Cicero Cemetery from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.
The walk will take guests on an engaging and informational tour of graves of individuals who helped shape the history of Jackson Township and Northern Hamilton County, including Cass Scherer, Dudley Purkey, Dr. Oscar Havens, and Ryan White, the cemetery’s most notable interred.
A short biography of individuals interred at the Cicero Cemetery as well as those whose final resting place are located in other Jackson Township cemeteries can be found at this link.
The walk, led by Hamilton Heights High School theater students, is made possible in collaboration with the Town of Cicero as part of the Hamilton County Bicentennial activities taking place in Jackson Township during the month of April.
The Cicero Cemetery, 791 W. Jackson St., has been in existence since the 1800s. The date on the oldest stone slab located is 1811 and barely legible today. The cemetery is managed by the Cicero Cemetery Association.
