Heights tennis drops two close matches at New Castle

Hamilton Heights dropped two close meets at the New Castle Invitational on Saturday.
The Huskies fell 3-2 to the host Trojans in the first round. Ben Wolfgang won at No. 3 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Nic Rice and Josh Russell was also victorious.
In the consolation round, Heights lost to Northeastern 3-2. Rice and Russell won to go 2-0 for the day at No. 1 doubles, with Drew Pennington and Colin Weber taking the No. 2 doubles match.
“Both matches were very competitive and I was very proud of the effort our team gave today,” said Huskies coach Justin Davis. “Playing back to back was tough, but proved to me, and hopefully to each of the players, that they are ready to take on the rest of this year. Each player grew tremendously today. Even though we fell short in both matches, no one ever gave up, they kept fighting each point until the very last point. We may be a young and inexperienced team, but we won’t back down and we will give it our all while winning or losing.”
