On Jan. 8, Hamilton Heights placed second at the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling South regional, which took place at Franklin Community. Junior Reagan Ward was the highest-placing Heights wrestler, finishing second at heavyweight.
Junior Samera Henson finished fourth at 113 pounds, while junior Jayla Logan took fourth at 132 pounds. Sophomore Cora Cain was fifth at 106 and senior Haley Jones took sixth at 126. Ward, Henson and Logan all qualified for the IHSGW state championship, which takes place Friday at Hamilton Heights.
Carmel placed fifth at the regional as a team. Haley Mattingly was the runner-up at 120 pounds, while Tay Coatie finished as the 126-pound runner-up. Roni Ledzema finished fifth at 98 pounds. All three qualified for Friday’s state finals.

HEIGHTS HOSTS NORTH VS. SOUTH DUAL
Hamilton Heights hosted the first-ever IHSGW North vs. South Dual Meet on Dec. 30.
Seven Heights girls powered the South team to the dual meet win. The South team trailed 34-18 before making a comeback and winning the meet 48-46. The wrestlers at the meet were some of the best women wrestlers in Indiana.
