Hamilton Heights picked up a Hoosier Conference East Division win at Western Tuesday, 41-31.
The Huskies led 19-12 after a high-scoring first quarter. Kaylee Rhoton made two 3-pointers for eight points, while Ella Hickok also drained two triples. Heights stayed in front 27-19 at halftime and 33-27 after three quarters, then held the Panthers to four points in the fourth quarter.
Camryn Runner finished the game with 19 points, and was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line. Huskies coach Keegan Cherry called it a great bounce-back performance after a close loss to Northwestern on Saturday, and that his team showed tremendous “mental and physical toughness,” especially in the second half.
“I was really proud of the way we started this game,” said Cherry. We played with great confidence and shot the ball really well.”
Heights is 2-1 in division play and 13-3 overall. The Huskies host Greenwood on Thursday.
