Hamilton Heights’ girls team finished up the regular season with a 50-32 victory Thursday at Heritage Christian.
The Huskies led 12-11 after a close first quarter, but blasted ahead in the second period, outscoring the Eagles 16-4 for a 28-15 halftime lead. Camryn Runner had a tremendous quarter, scoring 11 points in the second. Heights kept up the pace in the third period, outscoring Heritage Christian 12-6 for a 40-21 advantage.
Runner finished the game with 19 points, while Ella Hickok threw in four 3-pointers on her way to 18 points.
“Great way to finish the regular season,” said Huskies coach Keegan Cherry. “Really proud of the way our girls executed offensively and guarded. My assistants had a great game plan and our girls executed. From a coaching perspective, that was some of the best basketball we have played all year. I’m so happy for these girls. They are once again playing their best basketball at the end of season.
Heights is 17-5 and received a bye into the semi-finals of Class 3A Sectional 24, which the Huskies will host next week. Heights plays the winner of Tuesday’s first-round game between Jay County and Centerville.
