Heights gets most points of season, falls to Peru

The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team got its highest point total of the season Wednesday.

The Huskies dropped a home contest to Peru 63-53 but topped their best scoring effort by 15 points; the previous mark was 38 in a Nov. 16 game at Jay County. Heights was tied with the Tigers 11-11 after one quarter before Peru jumped ahead 29-20 at halftime. The Huskies played even with the Tigers in the second half, with both teams scoring 22 points in the fourth.

Katie Brown scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers, and collected six rebounds. Presley Cherry drained three 3s while scoring 10 points and also made five steals. Abi Hilfiker and Reece Blanton both pulled five rebounds.

Heights is 0-6 and plays at Noblesville tonight in a make-up game. The varsity-only contest begins at 7 p.m.
