The Hamilton County Leadership Academy’s Storyteller Series is taking a trip to the new Ignite Studio on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at the Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL), 5 Municipal Drive, Fishers.
This 15,000 square-foot community arts makerspace offers library patrons endless possibilities to feed their creativity with tools, equipment, materials, resources and resident artists.
Ignite Studio staff will offer tours of the space before we convene a conversation with:
- Katelyn Coyne, Ignite Studio Manager
- Lori Holewinski, Deputy Director of Impact, HEPL
- Aili McGill, Executive Director of Nickel Plate Arts
- Edra Waterman, Class of 2013, Director – HEPL
You’ll hear the story of Ignite from its inception during community focus groups, to the consulting phase with Nickel Plate Arts, to building a team to complete the project and open the space. You’ll learn how HEPL and libraries in general are using spaces like Ignite to respond to the evolving needs of the communities they serve. This is a fascinating story of innovation, fostering creativity and the impact of the arts in developing vibrant communities.
Once our discussion ends, you’ll be able to stick around to explore, play and create on your own in this incredible space.
Tickets are free. Click here to register.
