Hamilton County Emergency Management (HCEM) is actively working to increase community preparedness by introducing innovative tools and resources to engage and safeguard residents.
A key component of this initiative is a newly launched outreach trailer, which functions as both a mobile community engagement hub during regular times and a vital resource in disaster response scenarios.
The trailer is designed to draw families into interactive discussions about emergency preparedness, making the topic accessible and engaging for families of all ages. Its family-friendly approach not only educates residents but also ensures that preparedness is a topic that resonates across all age groups. In times of crisis, the trailer is designed to transition into a pivotal tool for emergency operations, reinforcing its importance in protecting the community.

In addition, HCEM has provided several responders with voltage detectors, which are essential for ensuring safety after storms. These devices help teams identify potential dangers, such as fallen power lines, making them a critical tool for safeguarding responders during recovery operations. When storms cause trees and power lines to fall, these voltage detectors will be instrumental in protecting those working on the front lines.
These comprehensive initiatives have been made possible through the generous support of the Duke Energy Foundation, whose unwavering commitment to community safety and resilience has enabled the realization of these innovative efforts.
HCEM’s fusion of technology, education, and practical disaster response underscores its dedication to building a more prepared and resilient community. Whether through the dual-purpose outreach trailer or life-saving voltage detectors, the agency is working tirelessly to protect Hamilton County families and ensure they are equipped to face unexpected challenges.
