Sheridan hosted Lafayette Central Catholic for its Senior Night meet Thursday at Hobbs Memorial Hall.
The meet came down to the last match of the night, and the Knights won it in a major decision, giving them the meet 37-33. Despite the tough loss, Blackhawks coach Steve Leonard said his team wrestled well, and also “had some nice matches from some underclassmen.”
Noah Ehrie won the 126-pound match by fall, and Axel Aleman won a tense 138-pound bout by a 10-8 decision. Corbin Went, Kaden Harrold, Ben Woodward and Alden Hamersley all received forfeit wins.
Sheridan will compete at the Tri-Central Duals on Saturday, then wrestler in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet next Saturday, Jan. 19.
“Hopefully we’ll go into conference and sectionals and do what we can,” said Leonard.
