‘Hawks cruise to seventh straight win

The Sheridan girls basketball team cruised to its seven consecutive win on Friday, beating Eastern 52-31 in an away Hoosier Heartland Conference game.
The Blackhawks led 13-2 after one quarter, with Cecilia Timme scoring six points during that period. Sheridan led 22-10 at halftime; Taylor Bates helped out by going 5-of-5 from the free-throw line in the second quarter.
In the third period, it was Ashley Webel’s turn to step up. Webel threw in three 3-pointers, totaling 11 points in the quarter, which finished with the ‘Hawks leading 44-22.
Bates finished the game with 15 points, with Webel scoring 14. Timme reached double-double status with 11 assists to go with her 10 points, and also had nine steals and nine rebounds. Jacquellynne Bates collected seven rebounds, while Chaney Smith made four steals.
Sheridan is 4-1 in HHC play and 8-2 overall. The ‘Hawks play Monday at Frankton.
