Because today is Thanksgiving, there will be no edition of The Reporter tomorrow.
You may not have thought about this, but newspapers are edited and designed the night before you read them, and we want all our people to be able to spend holidays as they see fit.
Most of us will be spending time with friends and family. At least one of us will be reflecting on the true history of the day.
None of us will be working.
Once upon a time some of us worked for newspapers that did not have holiday editions, but always had editions the day after. That meant we had the day before holidays off and worked on holidays. It was weird and unkind.
We are not thankful for those years.
We each have stories about explaining to our loved ones that we needed to gather the day before a holiday, then get back to being ink-stained wretches while the rest of the world relaxed or celebrated.
We promised ourselves that if we were ever in charge, things would be different.
We are in charge. Things are different.
Happy Thanksgiving, Hamilton County! We will be back with the local news you love on Saturday morning before the sun comes up.
