Brian Hamlett has been named as the new head coach of the Carmel boys track & field program.
Hamlett has 21 years of track coaching experience starting with his tenure as a head coach in Grayslake, Ill. Hamlett arrives at Carmel after serving for four years as the head coach of the girls track program at Brebeuf Jesuit and then transitioned to oversee both the boys and girls track programs at Brebeuf during the 2024 season, leading the Braves to a sixth-place finish at the boys state meet.
Hamlett was a three-sport athlete in high school as he balanced football, track & field, and basketball. A four-year letterman at Southern Illinois University in football, he holds the school record for receiving touchdowns in a game. Coaching track & field became his passion after college. As a track head coach, his transformational coaching focus on student-athletes led to much success at Brebeuf Jesuit both on and off the track.
Mr. Hamlett will teach Social Studies at Carmel High School in the fall. An introductory meeting for the team will be held after the start of the school year.
