The Hamilton Heights girls wrestling team opened its season last Saturday by competing in the Purdue Poly Tech Girls Open.
The Huskies finished 20th out of 40 teams. Amaelia Cordero-Ballinger had the highest finish of the team, placing fourth at 170 pounds “B.” Cordero-Ballinger advanced to the semifinals by winning both of her matches by fall.
Karma Collier took fifth at 235 pounds “A,” winning three straight matches in the consolation bracket by pin. Kelsee Powers placed sixth at 135 pounds “A,” also getting three falls. Morgan Moe was seventh at 140 pounds “A” and Ella Smith-Reynolds took eight at 130 pounds “A.”
