Hamilton Heights High School shifts to off-site learning

On Monday, Hamilton Heights Superintendent Dr. Derek Arrowood announced that Hamilton Heights High School will shift to off-site learning through Friday, Dec. 11.

“In assessing the numbers and the impact of COVID-related factors on students and staff, we have reached the threshold where we need to close the building for a reset,” Arrowood said. “This will help us to stop any spread before it starts. This also gives us the best chance to bring most of the high school student body back to campus for finals week and to finish out this second semester in-person. All after-school and extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled. In-person classes will resume on Monday, Dec. 14.”

Arrowood continued, “At this point we are hoping to keep our elementary and middle school buildings open and students in class. However, we will be reviewing our numbers daily and want you to be prepared that there is a possibility that we may have to shift the elementary, the middle school, or both to off-site learning in the days ahead. As I have shared in the past, we know that this temporary transition in our school community can add stress to an increasingly difficult situation. We remain vigilant and steadfast to take steps to protect the health of our students, school personnel, and the Heights community.”

  1. Will you also suspend all HS sports to mitigate the spread? Pretty sure these have far greater contact than in person learning.

  2. How ridiculous, kids should be in school.

  3. Need to close all the heights schools for a few weeks. New cases everyday or every other day….way to stop that spread…..
