Hamilton County Tourism commemorates National Travel and Tourism Week with county-wide scavenger hunt

Annual celebration of tourism will focus on Hamilton County’s sustainability initiatives

Hamilton County Tourism will host a county-wide scavenger hunt May 20 to 24 in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week.

Clues for the scavenger hunt will be given on Visit Hamilton County’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, teasing gift card prizes that will be hidden at a different location each day.

The organization annually hosts a scavenger hunt, showcasing different businesses or attractions throughout the county. This year, the theme is centered around sustainability. Each location will highlight a business or organization in the county that supports the environment through its operational practices.

Buckner

“Sustainability is an important cornerstone of our work in tourism,” said Sarah Buckner, Hamilton County Tourism’s assistant director of community engagement. “Working with local businesses and events on creating sustainable practices helps to support our natural resources and ensure that future generations can enjoy our destination.”

National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual celebration that underscores travel’s essential role in driving our nation’s economy, cultivating vibrant communities, and forging connections.

In Hamilton County Tourism’s 2024 Tourism Works report, the organization highlights the impact of tourism on the county. More than 5 million visitors now come to Hamilton County each year and spend almost $1 billion. According to surveys, 98 percent of leisure, 97 percent of sport, and 97 percent of business travelers rate their visits as good to excellent.

Myers

“Tourism in Hamilton County continues to grow in exciting new ways, providing benefits for travelers and residents alike,” Hamilton County Tourism President/CEO Brenda Myers said. “But we also want tourism to go well beyond economic activity. That’s why we’ve created ‘Inspire Hamilton County,’ a program that focuses on people, place, planet and prosperity to support our community and ensure tourism remains a positive partner.”
