David West has assumed the role of President & CEO at Hamilton County Tourism, effective Oct. 30.
The Hamilton County Tourism Board of Directors named West as the successor to Brenda Myers, who retired from Hamilton County Tourism after 19 years in the position.
West brings more than 20 years of experience in the tourism and destination management industry, having held key leadership positions with Herschend Family Entertainment (Dollywood Parks & Resorts), Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau in Pennsylvania, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Some of the major accomplishments throughout West’s career have included leading the “Pure Michigan” marketing initiatives and spearheading the execution of a strategic destination plan for Dollywood Parks & Resorts, resulting in record-breaking visitation.
“David has a proven track record of driving success and spearheading transformative marketing campaigns for a number of destinations,” said Conner Prairie President & CEO and Hamilton County Tourism Board Chair Norman Burns. “With his expertise and leadership skills, David is well equipped to lead Hamilton County Tourism into its next era of growth and innovation.”
West’s appointment as President & CEO follows a thorough search process initiated by the Board earlier this year. The search committee not only noted his vast background in tourism and attractions, but also his energy and creativity for what’s possible in destination marketing.
“I am honored to take on this role and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for Hamilton County, Indiana,” West said. “Together with our talented team and our dedicated partners, we can continue to provide exceptional experiences for our residents and visitors, while executing exiting new initiatives that will launch us into our next phase as a destination.”
