Hamilton County schools get $685K in safety grants

Fourteen local schools have been awarded a total of $685,842 in matching school safety grants.

The Indiana General Assembly allocated $19 million statewide for a grant program known as Secured School Safety Grant.

A total of 418 school throughout Indiana received funding.

Local public school districts receiving funding are Carmel Clay, Noblesville, Sheridan, Westfield, Hamilton Heights and Hamilton Southeastern.

Local private schools receiving funding are Eman Schools, Fishers Christian Academy, Indiana Academy, Midwest Academy, Options Charter Schools (Carmel), Our Lady of Grace, Saint Maria Goretti and University High School of Indiana.

According to grant administrators, the funds can be used for school resource officers, technology and equipment, warning systems and threat assessment.
