This weekend is a big one for high school basketball in Indiana, as the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and the IHSAA are conducting the 18th annual Boys Team Showcase in Memory of Charlie Hughes.
A total of 159 teams from across Indiana are participating in the tournament, and Hamilton County is hosting all of them. Six different sites are being used for the event: Carmel High School, Carmel Middle School, Clay Middle School, Carmel Dad’s Club, Westfield High School and Westfield Intermediate School.
Games began on Friday, with two Hamilton County teams playing in two contests. Fishers was at Carmel High School’s Eric Clark Activity Center, and won both of its games easily. The Tigers defeated Plainfield 79-48 and Chesterton 76-41.
Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic played at Westfield High School’s Fieldhouse, and won both of its games as well. The Golden Eagles, last season’s Class 3A state runner-up, beat Fort Wayne Carroll 56-51 and Scottsburg 62-54.
Six more Hamilton County teams will begin playing games today, while Fishers and Guerin Catholic will finish out their schedules of games. A schedule for each school is listed below.
Admission at all locations is $10 daily for adults and $5 daily for students ages 6 to 17. Children under 6 are admitted free.
