Hamilton County Parks to receive IU Health-Saxony grant

Indiana University Health North and Saxony hospitals, both located in Hamilton County, selected Hamilton County Parks and Recreation to receive their Physical Activity Priority Grant.  The grant funds, totaling $6,000, are intended to offset operating expenses or fund programs designed to encourage and increase physical activity among Hamilton County residents.

According to Joy Davis, with IU Health, “Hamilton County Parks’ mission aligns well with the mission of Indiana University Health, which is to improve the health of our community and patients through innovation and excellence in care, education, research and service.”

Additional support for Hamilton County Parks, by way of funding and volunteer participation, has been provided in the past by IU Health through the hospitals’ highly-regarded Day-of-Service community enhancement program. Over the past four years, the program has served to improve county parks with the intent to encourage healthier lifestyles within Hamilton County.

Representatives of Indiana University Health North and Saxony hospitals recently announced their plans to partner with Hamilton County Parks for their 2017 Day of Service program in September.  Planning, in which project details will be determined, is now underway.
