To recognize the sacrifice and risks undertaken by law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, hospital, medical and mental health professionals and researchers on the frontline in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Hamilton County Parks’ western bell tower, located in Coxhall Gardens, will be illuminated in blue, and its carillons will play at 9:11 p.m. for two minutes every evening.
This symbolic gesture of gratitude would not be possible without the generous technical support of the Butler Arts and Events Center, which contributed the resources necessary to convert the stately structure into a towering tribute.
Park department staff invite all organizations, families and individuals in Hamilton County to join in this show of support and appreciation by the ringing of bells and illumination of blue lights at the same time, every day, wherever possible.
During this observance, images and videos of the towers will be regularly posted on the park department’s Facebook page. The public is invited to add photos and videos of their efforts to recognize frontline heroes on the department’s Facebook page and share personal stories describing acts of heroism, as well.
Coxhall Gardens is located at 11677 Towne Road in Carmel. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk. For this special observance, park gates will remain open daily until 9:59 p.m.
