Survey honors counties embracing cybersecurity, AI & innovative technologies

Hamilton County has been recognized as one of the best digital counties in the nation. The Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) ranks Hamilton County among the top 10 counties with a population of 250,000 to 499,999 in its 22nd annual Digital Counties Survey.

The survey identifies the best technology practices among United States counties, including initiatives that streamline delivery of government services; provide data analytics; enhance cybersecurity; and apply innovative and emerging technologies to county priorities.

“This year’s survey results highlight how counties are responsibly embracing new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence in its various forms and other digital tools and platforms to respond to top priorities of their constituents and elected officials,” CDG Senior Vice-President Teri Takai said.

Chris Mertens, Hamilton County’s Director of Information Technology, says this is the 22nd time Hamilton County has been honored with this recognition.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized as a top digital county,” Mertens said. “This accolade is a testament to the support provided by the County Commissioners and Council and the IT team’s dedication to data-driven decision-making, strengthening our cybersecurity measures, and fostering an inclusive digital environment. This recognition motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of what technology can achieve for our community.”

The top 10 winners were honored at a special awards event during the National Association of Counties annual conference on July 12 in Hillsborough County, Fla.
