Hamilton County is celebrating 170 employees for their service to the community.

Each year the Board of Commissioners and Human Resources Department recognize and honor employees for long and meritorious service by presenting service awards at the end of each five years of employment.

Each recipient will be given a service pin with the number of years on it.

“Our goal is to bring to the citizens and taxpayers of Hamilton County the most responsive governmental services possible,” Human Resources Director Sheena Randall said. “Employing top quality people, providing them with meaningful work, and retaining their services helps serve the public efficiently and effectively.”

Rex Foutz and Mervin Hair, both with the Highway Department, and Jenny Sundling in the Clerk’s Office top this year’s list of employees with the most longevity. They have each been employed with the county for 40 years.

“Hamilton County has always been a great place to work,” Foutz said. “I feel my skills are constantly being developed while also achieving significant personal growth and job satisfaction. Plus, I love the farmer’s tan I get every year.”

“The county offers great benefits too,” Randall added, “such as health insurance, paid holidays, and a 37.5-hour work week.”

This year, three employees will celebrate 35 years of service with the county, five will mark 30 years, and 20 will observe 25 years. Another 16 employees will be honored for reaching the 20-year milestone with 45 marking 15 years, 36 celebrating 10 years, and 42 reaching five years of employment.
