Experts will offer tips & resources for preventing cancer in children
The Hamilton County Health Department, in collaboration with the Indiana Immunization Coalition, will hold a webinar to educate parents and guardians about human papillomavirus (HPV), its associated health risks, and the importance of vaccinating children against HPV-related cancers.
The free event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.
“Imagine if you could save your child from cancer with just a simple vaccine – wouldn’t you want to do everything in your power to protect them?” asks Julie Nagel, Immunization Coordinator at the Hamilton County Health Department. “The HPV vaccine is a crucial tool in preventing certain cancers, and we want to ensure that every parent has the information they need to make this important decision.”
Sara Vivo, Adolescent Program Manager for the Indiana Immunization Coalition, added, “Nearly 80 million people in the United States are currently infected with HPV, and about 14 million new infections occur each year. By vaccinating our children, we can significantly reduce these alarming numbers and help prevent the development of cancer down the line.”
Registration for the webinar is free. Those interested in attending can register at tinyurl.com/whyhpv.
