Experts in dental health to address everything from thumb sucking to vaping

The Hamilton County Health Department, along with Trinity Free Clinic, will hold a Children’s Dental Health webinar at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The webinar will discuss the dental health of children from infants through teens.

In addition to discussing topics such as when to schedule your child’s first dental appointment and tips for eliminating pacifiers and thumb sucking, the webinar will also address dental concerns for tweens and teens.

“There’s more to it than brushing and flossing every day,” said Kaylen Underhill, Health Educator at the Hamilton County Health Department. “We’ll talk about the dangers of sports drinks and vaping, and the importance of mouthguards.”

Cindy Love, a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Trinity Free Clinic, will also speak about the importance of preventive care.

“Fluoride is instrumental in preventing tooth decay by strengthening tooth enamel,” Love said. “Parents can ensure their children receive an adequate amount of fluoride through fluoridated water, fluoride toothpaste, and professional fluoride treatments during dental visits.”
