The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office announces that Accreditation Manager Mike Dixon has been appointed to the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) Committee on Accreditation. This distinguished appointment recognizes Dixon’s expertise and dedication to forensic accreditation standards.
The IACME Committee on Accreditation is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, and rewriting accreditation standards to meet evolving needs within the field. Additionally, the committee develops policies and procedures for accreditation auditors, ensuring consistency and excellence in forensic investigations. The committee comprises 16 esteemed members from various forensic disciplines.
Dixon brings an extensive background in accreditation and law enforcement to this role. His 40-year career with the Carmel Police Department included 27 years as the department’s Accreditation Manager. He also served as the past president of the Indiana Police Accreditation Coalition, co-created the Indiana Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, and worked as an assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
Following his retirement from law enforcement, Dixon led the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office to achieve international accreditation, further cementing his commitment to excellence in forensic operations. In his current role as the office’s Accreditation Manager, he continues to uphold and advance rigorous standards.
