The Guerin Catholic girls basketball team dropped the first game of a girl-boy doubleheader to Bishop Chatard 59-40 Friday at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles led 9-6 after the first quarter, but the Trojans came back to take a 17-15 lead by halftime. Chatard then poured in 24 points in the third period while holding GC to 11, giving the Trojans a 41-26 lead and control of the game.
Guerin coach Jeff Buckner was pleased with how his team has been performing in the first half of games, but noted that “we got to find a way to match that intensity in the second half. We’re starting the games well and we end them well, it’s that third quarter we’re kind of struggling with right now.”
Nicole Cunningham scored 19 points for the Golden Eagles, including three 3-pointers.
Guerin Catholic is 4-12 and will play at Harrison on Tuesday.
