Guerin Catholic won another sectional road game on Friday, as the Class 3A No. 9 Golden Eagles beat Tippecanoe Valley 34-14 in the Sectional 28 semi-finals.
After a scoreless first quarter, Guerin Catholic got on the board in the second period with a 39-yard touchdown run by Justin Zdobylak. The Vikings answered with a 10-yard touchdown throw, but GC delivered on a 66-yard scoring pass from Malcolm Houze to Harrison Miller. That gave Guerin a 13-7 lead going into halftime.
The Golden Eagles added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, both on big plays. Houze threw a 42-yard TD pass to Alex Gibbs, then Zdobylak streaked to the end zone on an 85-yard run. Guerin Catholic led 27-14 after three periods, and added one more touchdown in the fourth when Houze scored on a seven-yard run.
Zdobylak had an outstanding night, rushing for 258 yards. Houze also had solid game, going 10-for-20 and totaling 197 yards. Gibbs and Will Fremion each had three receptions.
The Golden Eagles are 7-4 and host Bishop Chatard next Friday for the Sectional 28 championship.
