Guerin Catholic’s basketball teams split a doubleheader at Lafayette Central Catholic on Friday.
In the girls game, the Golden Eagles fell to the Knights 55-23. Central Catholic led 29-4 at halftime. Nine different Guerin Catholic players scored, led by Kori Dues’ five points.
The Golden Eagles boys beat the Knights 60-54. Guerin Catholic led 16-12 after one quarter, then jumped out to a 30-19 lead in the second period. LCC came back and cut that advantage to 33-26 by halftime. The second half was played almost even, but the Golden Eagles were able to hang on for the win.
Robert Sorensen scored 22 points for GC, with Kamea Chandler adding 20 points. Sorensen collected seven rebounds, while Ty Sanders pulled six rebounds and blocked two shots.
The Golden Eagles girls finished the regular season 8-14. They travel to Brebeuf Jesuit on Tuesday to take on Bishop Chatard in the first round of Sectional 27.
The Guerin Catholic boys are 11-6 and host Noblesville this afternoon.
