The Guerin Catholic girls basketball team picked up its first Circle City Conference win of the season Saturday, beating Covenant Christian 35-27 at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles used stellar defense to get the victory. Guerin Catholic trailed 6-5 after one quarter, but then outscored the Warriors 18-5 over the next two periods. That gave GC a 14-8 halftime lead and a 23-11 advantage after three quarters. Guerin Catholic added another 12 points in the fourth to seal the win.
Natalie Fernandez led the Golden Eagles with 14 points.
Guerin Catholic is 1-1 in CCC play and 4-5 overall, and hosts Cathedral on Thursday.
