Guerin Catholic’s boys broke out of a tie game at halftime to pull away from Liberty Christian, eventually winning the road contest 62-46.
The teams were tied at 29-29 at halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored the Lions 15-10 in the third quarter for a 44-39 lead, then powered away in the fourth period, pouring in 18 points.
Robert Sorensen drained three 3-pointers on his way to 17 points, and also led the rebounds with seven. Kamea Chandler added 14 points and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Jack Cherry had five assists to go with his nine points, while Sorensen and Chandler both dished out four assists.
Guerin Catholic is 10-6 and travels to Lafayette Central Catholic on Friday for a girls-boys doubleheader.
