The Carmel boys basketball team lost a back-and-forth Metropolitan Conference game with Pike 49-48 Friday at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Red Devils led 26-20 at halftime, but the Greyhounds roared back to go ahead 35-34 after three periods.
Pike led 45-42 with 2:20 left. Karsten Windlan cut the lead to one with a rebound and fast break basket, then put the ‘Hounds up 48-47 by scoring with 7.4 seconds left. The Red Devils answered, scoring with 1.4 seconds left and held on from there.
Windlan led the Carmel scoring with 15 points, while John Michael Mulloy reached double-double status with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Jenkins pulled five rebounds.
This was the first MIC loss for the ‘Hounds, who are now 3-1 in the conference. Carmel is 8-5 overall and travels to Brownsburg tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game.
