Greyhounds defeat Crispus Attucks for first win of season

The Carmel girls basketball team won its first game of the season Friday, beating Crispus Attucks 63-40 on the road.

The Greyhounds were in control from the beginning, leading 17-7 after one quarter. Izzy Shepherd scored 11 points in that period. Carmel extended its lead to 34-13 by halftime, with Mallory Bourquein adding five points in the second quarter. The ‘Hounds poured in another 20 points in the third period.

Shepherd led Carmel with 20 points, while Bourquein added 13 points. All 10 Greyhounds players scored at least two points.

Carmel is 1-2 and plays Tuesday at Zionsville.
