The Carmel baseball team won an all-county game with Westfield 19-2 in five innings Monday at Hartman Field.
The Greyhounds led 2-0 after one inning, then poured in seven runs in the second, nine runs in the third and one more run in the fourth inning. Hunter Snow had one hit for Carmel, but it was a big hit: A grand slam in the second inning. Snow totaled five RBIs for the game, he also had an RBI groundout in the third inning.
Gabe Mathison and James Charland both totaled four RBIs, while JD Stein batted in two runs. Stein, Case Sullivan and Charland each hit a double. Mathison had two hits. Kenny Bruntlett, Tripp Schroeder and Drew Fouts all had one single.
Stein led the runs scoring with four, followed by two each from Snow, Sullivan, Tyler Walkey, Mathison, Bruntlett and Fouts. Charland, Tim Haas and Cam Carmichael all scored one run. Sam Bruington got the pitching win.
The Shamrocks scored their two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Caden Sullivan batted in Evan Russ and Austin Knott with a single. Knott had gotten on base with a left field double.
Carmel is 8-1 and plays Saturday morning at Louisville Trinity. Westfield hosts Fishers Thursday to begin at Hoosier Crossroads Conference series.
