The City of Westfield and the Westfield Education Foundation (WEF) announced the Grand Summer Kickoff will take place at the Grand Park Sports Campus on the last day of the 2018-2019 school year, Friday, May 24. The free event is designed to appeal to all Westfield residents regardless of age.
The Grand Summer Kickoff will feature a dodgeball competition, kite flying, musical entertainment, food for purchase, a health fair, Knockerball and a family adventure race – that stretches over half of the 400-acre Grand Park Sports Campus.
“This is a wonderful way to kick off the summer,” said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook. “The Grand Summer Kickoff will allow our community an opportunity to come together for a fun day of activity and, more importantly, to support the most valuable asset we have – our youth.”
Proceeds from the Grand Summer Kickoff will benefit the Westfield Education Foundation (WEF), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entity created in 1986 to serve as a philanthropic resource for students and teachers in our community. As of 2018, the Foundation has awarded $1,150,000 in college scholarships to Westfield High School graduating seniors and classroom teaching grants in Westfield Washington Schools.
“The Westfield Education Foundation is thrilled to help launch this exciting and fun event for our families,” said WEF Executive Director Jan Skinner. “While the event is free to attend, WEF will raise money through the proceeds of sign-ups for the family adventure race and dodgeball tournament. The more participants, the more money we can raise – and the more funds we can deliver to deserving Westfield High School seniors and teachers.”
